My Mom's Spaghetti & Meatballs

Growing up,
my mom and all of her French aunts
would gather every Sunday for supper.

She would make spaghetti and meatballs for this event. My dad was the chauffeur and would gather up our guests and bring them to her house. My great aunts only spoke French. I can hear them now as they bustled around our kitchen.

It is such a great memory I have of Sunday suppers at our house.
Making this for my family now connects me to a time in my life that was truly special.

Here is Evelyn's recipe for spaghetti and meatballs.

IF IT STICKS, IT’S DONE.

One of my mom's recipes for checking to see if the spaghetti was ‘al dente’, was to throw the spaghetti at the wall above the stove to see if it was done!

If it stuck to the wall, it was done.

I still see in my memory the faint outlines of the spaghetti on our kitchen wall.
